India’s coastal regions stretch from the westernmost point of the country, the Gulf of Kutch, across the Gulf of Khambhat, and then south through the Konkan and Kanara regions before continuing southward along the Malabar through Cape Comorin in the southernmost part of the country, forming the western coastline that faces both the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. The Eastern Coastline extends from Cape Comorin in a northeastern direction, passing through the Coromandal Coast, the Northern Circars, and the Utkal Plains until reaching the easternmost point of the shoreline near the Sunderbans along the Bay of Bengal. Along with gorgeous seas and oceans like the Arabian Sea, this area is home to several beaches and springs.
Because of its coastal topography and the maritime trade between traders from west Asia and the Mediterranean along its west coastline, the people living along India’s coast display a great deal of diversity combined with an underlying commonality. Gujaratis inhabit the westernmost part of the region, while Maharashtrians, Konkanis, Tuluvas, Bearys, and Malayalis are spread across the western shore. Easternly, along the Bay of Bengal, are Tamilians, the Telugus, Odia, and Bengali people.
